Drawing is the starting point for most of my practice. Exploring both traditional and more experimental processes, such as silver point, charcoal, scratchboard, piercing, pricking and burning, I make abstract compositions on a variety of substrates with a strong sense of dimension, movement and tactility.
Among other important sources of inspiration are pre-industrial crafts that demanded so much time and commitment from their makers to master and complete. From the perspective of our hectic era of instant satisfaction, artifacts of hand made lace or sewing are mesmerizing for the dexterity they represent and the passing of the individual’s hours that they map, stroke by stroke.
