MARIANNE LOVINK: MICROSCOPIC: EXHIBIT AMicroscopic: exhibit ASeptember, 2006
This work, comprised of wall-mounted “drawings” made from wrapped and pigmented welded steel rods has been inspired by the organic structure of the human body on a cellular level. Using highly detailed microscopy images gleaned from the internet and medical journals as source material, each piece is a three-dimensional re-imagining of elemental structures such as neural circuitry, glandular and lymphatic systems, and cellular forms, among others.
