Vancouver BC-based artist Lyle XOX starts with his self-identity and transforms by fusing facial sculpture, makeup, and fictional writing into a 3-D assemblage using a myriad of objects from the mundane and throw-away in our daily life. Each portrait becomes a study in contrast and fantasy, with humour and irony woven throughout.

Growing up in rural Saskatchewan, Canada, Lyle’s family emphasized recycling long before it was fashionable. His home environment replaced television with books, colouring pencils and fort building in the great outdoors. The attraction to discarded objects and packaging that contain commodities with perceived value has become a key factor in his facial sculptures, granting these objects an additional leg in their journey before reaching their final demise.
