San Giorgio Maggiore With Gondola Station Venice, 2012

I often like to revisit locations hours, days and even years later to experience a scene with fresh eyes. My first study in this location was made early in the morning with heavy fog obstructing the distant view of San Giorgio Maggiore. A few years later I once again found myself standing in the same location. I watched the fog clear and was about to make a similar image, but with more detail in the background. However, before making the first exposure, I thought it might be better if the foreground gondolas were absent. I persuaded the gondoliers to move them for a few minutes while I made an exposure.
